So many people talk about how sharks are really bad creatures but more often than not this is just stupid. There less than 40 of the 300+ species of sharks that have been know to attack humans which is a very small majority indeed. Where does all the information about sharks wanting to hunt down the entire human population actually come from?

Movies
Massive films such as Jaws and Deep Blue Sea have really not helped when it comes to peoples opinions of the creatures. Many people actually believe what they here in the news and these movies and simply assume that if you are diving and you spot a Great White that there will be no escape and you will be dead within a couple of minutes. This is a load of rubbish, sharks do not attack for no reason they will only do so if you are invading their territory or they are starving. Film makers are always putting the shark out to be the bad guy and if you sit down and think about it, we are the ones in their sea!

Water sports
The things that human beings do in the water have increased in popularity over the last few years and sharks will often mistake humans on surfboards and inflatable devices as small seals. The main food source for some of the bigger sharks is of course the seal so can you really blame them for this.

The Press
It would certainly seem that when it comes to sharks, newspapers have no sympathy at all and all because the figure for the amount of shark attacks that are occurring is rising it must mean that the sharks are out on a mission to kill everyone in sight.

Reality
If you are looking to go on a shark diving trip then you really do not need to worry about being killed. Try red sea diving holidays or of course sharm el sheikh diving if you fancy swimming with the “enemy” or in normal terms, going on one of those diving holidays.

An Alabama mother is charged with endangering the wellbeing of her teenager. The teen was sitting in a cardboard box on the roof of her van down a highway. Albertville police force arrested the 37-year-old mother. Police received several phone calls that a minivan on the highway had a child sitting on top.

The woman when questioned by cops recounted that the box was too large to fit in the minivan and they wanted it. So, the only thing to do was situate the box on top of the van. She said that the box would have fallen off so she had her daughter get in the box in order to grip it down.

When police questioned the woman about how safe that was for her teenager she reported that she had secured the box with a clothes hanger. So what I am trying to recognize from this story is how a clothes hanger would secure the box.

Maybe she hooked the hanger around the rack on the top of the minivan and then poked it through the box so the girl could clutch on or something. Either way, this is the most ludicrous thing I have heard a person do in a long time. I grant this mother the “idiot of the week award.”

Even though the 13-year-old girl was on the top in the box she wasn’t injured. The mother was out on bond soon after the incident. What doesn’t make sense to me is why she couldn’t crush the box or find a rope to secure it on.

It seems like a big jump to go from it won’t fit in the car to jump on top and I will strive to drive home safely. I wonder what the remainder of her family thought of the event. They probably thought it was okay just like the mother.

Not only was this stupid but it was very dangerous. The girl would have landed on the highway if for any reason her mother would have slammed on the breaks. She would have gotten road rash, most likely have head trauma, and probably been struck by her mothers or anothers car.

This situation could have turned into a catastrophe but luckily it didn’t. It makes me wonder if this lady is one of those parents that drives around with her children on her lap instead of in a car seat. It is illegal for children not to be restrained while sitting in the car because it’s risky.

Some parents just don’t take their children’s safety seriously. If something would have happened there wouldn’t have been anything to save her. The mother in the car had a seatbelt, airbags, and the metal on her car to protect her but this girl had nothing. This cardboard box wouldn’t have stood up to anything. Plus she would have flown out of it beforehand. I hope that the law enforcement comes down hard on this lady because she is absolutely nuts!
